What is Claude,
and why did I build everything on it?

Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, explained simply: who makes it, why it's at the top of the pack, and why I made it the foundation of all my projects — for real, not just in a demo.

1. What Claude is, and who makes it

Claude is Anthropic's AI — a lab founded by former OpenAI researchers, with a clear guiding principle: models that are as reliable and predictable as possible, built for serious work rather than flashy demos.

In practice, Claude isn't one model but a family, available in three sizes you pick based on the task: the most powerful for hard jobs, a mid-range that covers the vast majority of use cases, and a lightweight ultra-fast one for high volume. The version name changes every few months — what stays constant is this "powerful / balanced / fast" logic.

Three sizes, one family. You pick based on the task — no need to memorize version numbers.

2. Why it's one of the top models right now

No BS: no model is "the best at everything," and the right choice depends on the task. But a few objective signals put Claude at the top of the pack:

  • It powers pro developers' tools. The most widely used AI code editors rely on Claude — it's become the reference for demanding technical work.
  • It attracts the best people. In May 2026, Andrej Karpathy — co-founder of OpenAI, former head of AI at Tesla, one of the field's greatest educators — joined Anthropic. When someone of that caliber picks a team, it says a lot.
  • It's built for serious work. Writing, analysis, reasoning, code: that's where it's strongest, and that's exactly what a business needs.

3. Why I built everything on it

The real proof isn't a benchmark — it's what's actually running in my setup. I'm not a developer; strategy, marketing, and purchasing are my trade. And yet, with Claude:

  • Cobra runs on management modules (purchasing, stock imports, shop sync) that I framed and had Claude write, plus all the technical SEO for the site.
  • Haute Fidélité has its online store and logistics built the same way.
  • A global hi-fi news brief lands in my inbox every morning, automatically written by Claude from dozens of sources.
  • This very site, the Knowledge Hub, is written and published with Claude.

The common thread: a non-technical person shipping production-grade things that used to require a whole team. That's the click.

A single foundation: the same assistant powers every project, from dev to editorial.
